What is the Sierra Leone Educators Association?
Founded by Mohamed Sesay, the Sierra Leone Educators Association is a community-led programme dedicated to:
Building and equipping schools in underserved areas.
Providing safe, structured education to children, many of whom have been rescued from human trafficking.
Delivering vocational training in farming, technology, and essential life skills.
Creating long-term pathways out of poverty through empowerment and opportunity.
Providing sustainable school gardens.
Raising awareness on human rights.
Offering youth leadership programs.
Where We Come In
A few months ago, our Non-Executive Director, Mandeep Birdy, launched Elevate Sierra Leone. This extraordinary community initiative brings together purpose-driven professionals to create positive social change. The founder of the Sierra Leone Educators Association reached out to Mandeep at her Women in Tech event, and from here, our partnership was born.
Understanding the needs of the Sierra Leone Educators Association, The Million People Project now contributes by sourcing, refurbishing, and supplying the essential tech that makes learning possible:
Laptops for digital literacy training.
Tablets and peripherals for classroom use.
Infrastructure support to create safe, tech-enabled learning environments.
“These laptops have changed everything. For some of these women, this is the first time they’ve had a safe space to learn - and dream.” – Mohamed Sesay, Founder of Sierra Leone Educators Association and Partner with Elevate Sierra Leone
The Impact of Our Partnership
The impact of our collaboration is profound.
Girls once at risk are now learning to code and run small businesses.
Entire classrooms of students are being introduced to STEM for the first time.
Schools are growing into safe hubs for education, nutrition, and self-reliance.
Bridging the Digital Divide
In today's world, technology is essential. It opens doors to opportunities and empowers individuals. However, many communities still lack access to these vital resources. By bridging the digital divide, we ensure that everyone has a chance to thrive.
Empowering Women and Girls
Empowering women and girls is at the heart of our mission. Education is a powerful tool that can transform lives. When women are educated, they can uplift their families and communities. The Sierra Leone Educators Association is making strides in this area, and we are proud to support their efforts.
Building Sustainable Futures
Sustainability is crucial for long-term success. The initiatives led by the Sierra Leone Educators Association focus on creating sustainable practices. From school gardens to vocational training, they are laying the groundwork for a brighter future.
Join Us in Making a Difference
You can be a part of this incredible journey. Your support can help us provide the necessary technology and resources to those in need. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of many.

By educating children in technology subjects in Sierra Leone, the children can improve their family's farming methods, as well as design and fix the tech to extend its life and keep it out of landfill. It empowers them to find work and some of them become future tech leaders too. All because people like you donated a laptop. You are all superstars!
